Administrative Tools
- Automatic Restart – This
tool lets you control what happens if the main TTC service fails.
- Enable/Disable Objects –
This tool lets you enable or disable any of the IP objects in the current configuration.
This is useful to quickly debug which IP object is manipulating traffic.
- Installed Virus Scanners
– The Spam Mail Blocker can use a third-party virus scanner in addition to the built-in
Lightspeed virus scanner. This utility shows you what virus scanners the Spam
Mail Blocker is currently using.
- Restricted Users – Gives specified users read access to
reports on a restricted portion of your network.
- Scheduled Reports – This tool
lets you configure different reports to be automatically emailed once a day.
- Scheduled Tasks – To maintain
the TTC software and its related databases there are several Windows scheduled tasks.
You can change the timing or disable and enable the scheduled tasks here.
- Software Update – This tool lets
you check for any new software updates. Normally this service runs once a day as
a scheduled task so that you don’t have to manually run it.
- Subnet Labels – Sometimes it is
more convenient to refer to different parts of a network by name rather than by
subnet IP addresses. This utility lets you label the different parts of your network.
The subnet labels will be used in some of the traffic reports instead of IP addresses.
- User Resolution Settings – Figuring
out who is logged onto different computers inside of your network is more complicated
than you would think. The various methods that TTC will use to discover the logged
on users are controlled here.
Local TTC Monitoring
The local TTC server runs a task that monitors the performance of different aspects
of the computer and all of the TTC services and tasks. You can control what is monitored
and how it is reported.
- Properties – This is
the list of system parameters, processes and events to monitor and the types of
alerts to generate.
- Monitoring Alerts Errors Only – This
report shows only the monitor events that are errors.
- Monitoring Alerts Full Report
– This report shows all the monitoring events that have occurred.
- Set Alert Priority –
This utility gives you a finer grained control over the reporting of different events,
allowing you to ignore or generate a notification email.
- Support Contact Info
– This is the contact information for the Lightspeed Customer Support department
to use if you have enabled Lightspeed Systems to remotely monitor your TTC server.
Remote TTC Monitoring
Each TTC server that is locally monitoring itself can also communicate alerts to
a remote TTC server. This remote TTC server can in turn report the alerts and, in the case
of significant failure, generate notification emails. The remote TTC
server can also send various useful commands to the local server to help diagnose
any problems.
In order to monitor a TTC server remotely, the local TTC Monitoring
property Remote Monitoring Server must be set to the fully qualified domain name
of the remote server. By default the Remote Monitoring Server property is set
to monitor.lightspeedsystems.com so that the customer support department at Lightspeed
Systems can monitor any system or program errors on your server.
- Properties – This
tool lets you set what events you want to monitor from this remote TTC server.
- Remote TTC Commands – This tool
lets you issue commands back to the TTC server that you are monitoring remotely.
These commands include emailing system logs and error logs that help diagnose
problems.
- Remote TTC Server Status
– This report displays the current status of every TTC server that is remotely monitored by this TTC Server.
